Glover Birthplace Memorial Garden

The site where Glover Birthplace Memorial Garden is situated was originally the site of 15, Commerce Street and the home of Thomas Glover and his family during his early years. It was destroyed during wartime and had been left in a derelict state. The owner of the site, local business man Micheal Mennie had long desired to see a much more appropriate commemoration to Fraserburgh’s most famous son.

The Fraserburgh 2021 project created an opportunity to develop this. After a competitive process in late 2019, Rankin Fraser Landscape Architects were awarded the task of putting together a fitting design for the space. The initial design concept is illustrated below, this was the presentation produced by David Muir from Rankin Fraser and used in the community consultation prior to finalisation of the scheme.
